AECO Pulse
Methodology
The AECO Pulse Index is a quarterly confidence and outlook measure across India's architecture, engineering, construction, and operations industry. This page documents how we compute and publish it.
Index construction
- Responses come from verified professionals; answers are anonymized before aggregation.
- Each scored question maps to a 0–100 normalized score via option weights.
- The Pulse Index is a weighted average of those scores for the active wave.
- Readings above 50 signal net optimism; below 50 signal caution.
Segmentation & privacy
- Primary slice: category × state × firm size, with rollups when n is too low.
- Segments below the privacy floor are withheld or shown as directional (e.g. n=8+).
- Exact sample sizes are only shown when large enough to prevent differencing attacks.
Sub-indices & leading indicators
Confidence, AI adoption, pipeline, and pricing power are derived from question sections. The backlog indicator asks for months of signed work ahead and is intended as a leading economic signal for Indian AECO — not a substitute for national accounts.
Limitations
Pulse reflects perception and stated intent, not audited financials. Forecasts on contributor dashboards are simple trajectory extrapolations and should be treated as directional. Media citing the public index should link to this methodology page.
