AECORD pays for freelance writing, photography and illustrations. We don't run unpaid work, ever. Here's what we're looking for and how to pitch.
What we're commissioning right now
Reported features
A reported piece on a project, person, or policy. 1,800-3,000 words. ₹ 24,000-42,000 + expenses.
Interviews
Q&A or essay-format interview with a practitioner. 900-1,500 words. ₹ 14,000-20,000.
Photography
Project photography or city portraits. Day rate ₹ 12,000-18,000 + expenses.
Technical explainers
How-To pieces on BOQ writing, contractor selection, materials. 1,200-2,000 words. ₹ 18,000-28,000.
How to pitch
A pitch is 200-400 words: what the story is, why now, who you'd talk to, and one paragraph of your reporting plan. Include 2 links to past published work. We aim to respond within 7 working days.
What we don't commission
Round-ups ("10 best X"), studio profiles paid for by the studio, generic trend pieces without a strong reporting hook, and anything that reads like a press release with a byline.
Rates and payment
Half on acceptance, half on publication. Net-30 from invoice date. We don't negotiate down once accepted. Kill fees of 30% if we commission and don't run.
